Polo Shirts   

The polo shirt is probably one of the greatest innovations in men’s fashion. What started out as an adjustment in the uniform for tennis players, polo shirts have now become staple clothing that can be seen as part of the wardrobes of men around the world.

Historically, polo shirts came about when Rene Lacoste, a seven-time Grand Slam tennis champion, revolutionized the tennis uniform by designing a loose-fit, cotton-knit shirt that has a starch-free collar that can be upturned to block the sunlight from a player’s neck. This new tennis attire was quickly adopted by polo players which forever branded the new sports attire as the “polo shirt”. Soon after, more and more players of other sports such as golf began wearing polo shirts as their standard sportswear.

Nowadays, polo shirts are worn by businessmen, students and almost everybody since they have become a universal favorite casual wear. A polo shirt is the best choice of attire for occasions where button-downed collared shirts are considered overdressed and the plan T-shirt will be much too informal.

Polo shirts are considered to be the best casual wear for men and even for a number of women. They are best partnered with jeans or casual pants. Polo shirts are also being accepted in the office setting as more and more business offices are implementing a more casual workplace.
